24-Year old Giorgia Lanuzza has bravely released a series of pictures of herself with 97% of her body covered in psoriasis sores, and declared that she finally feels comfortable in her own skin.

She initially developed the condition at 11, after her father was killed in a motorcycle accident at only 46 years of age. By the time she was 13 almost her entire body was covered in sores.

She said: “I feel I have a responsibility to show other sufferers that we should all be proud of our bodies, no matter what some people think.”
But throughout her teen years and into her 20s, the project manager would cover herself in layers of clothing to hide the inflamed blotches.

“I feel I have a responsibility to show other sufferers that we should all be proud of our bodies, no matter what some people think. My psoriasis looks like red, raised spots and people looked at me as if I was disgusting and they might catch something. People would stop and stare at me in the street and I felt so self-conscious about the condition that it was ruining my life,” she said.

There is no known cure for the condition, which is made worse in heat or during times of stress. Giorgia now wants to start a campaign to raise awareness of the condition, and frankly, good on her for being so brave, and managing to become an inspiration to others who suffer from skin conditions as well.
